The Building of the Trade School in Br\u010dko<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBr\u010dko has a very long tradition of trade and economic education. In the autumn of 1883, the Trade School was established in Br\u010dko, the first school of its kind in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The school had four grades and 35 graduating classes, operating from the 1883\/84 school year until 1918\/19.
<\/br>\nStudents enrolled in the Trade School after completing primary school, which lasted four years. Following a school reform in the 1919\/1920 academic year, student enrollment ceased, the Trade School was closed, and a Lower Gymnasium was established in its place. However, the Lower Gymnasium was discontinued in the 1928\/1929 academic year \u00a0\n
<\/br>\nBuilding on the forty-year tradition of the Trade School, which was attended by over 600 students, the Trade Academy was established in Br\u010dko in 1923. However, at the beginning of the 1930\/31 academic year, the Trade Academy was relocated from Br\u010dko to Banja Luka. From its establishment until its relocation, 232 students graduated from the Trade Academy in Br\u010dko.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tIn 1961, the first higher education institution in the region was established in Br\u010dko \u2013 the Higher School of Economics and Commerce, which had departments in several cities across Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Croatia.\nIn 1976, the Higher School of Economics and Commerce transformed into the Faculty of Economics.\nAfter its establishment, the faculty became a member of the University of Sarajevo. Following the founding of the University of Tuzla, the Faculty of Economics in Br\u010dko became part of this association of higher education institutions.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Since 1992, the Faculty of Economics in Br\u010dko has been part of the University of East Sarajevo (formerly the University of Serb Sarajevo). During the period from 1992 to 1995, the faculty did not enroll new students, and its activities were focused on organizing consultations and exams for students who had already been enrolled. In the 1996\/97 academic year, students were enrolled at the Faculty of Economics in Br\u010dko as a department of the Faculty of Economics in Banja Luka, and in the 1997\/98 academic year, regular student enrollment at the Faculty of Economics in Br\u010dko resumed.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSince 2000, three study programs have been introduced: Management, Accounting and Finance, and Business Informatics. In 2004, postgraduate studies were also organized in the fields of Management in Accounting and Auditing, and Management and Entrepreneurship. During 2006, the Faculty's Curriculum was adopted, which includes three study cycles, following the 4+1+3 system, across three study programs: Accounting and Finance, Management, and Business Informatics. \u00a0\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tIn 2004, the Faculty of Economics began offering postgraduate studies in two programs: Management in Accounting and Auditing, and Management and Entrepreneurship. In the 2011\/2012 academic year, a second cycle was introduced, namely the master's program, with three study programs: Economic Planning and Development, Management and Marketing, and Financial and Banking Management.\nSince its establishment, the Faculty has seen 18 doctoral dissertations, 43 master's theses, and 35 master's projects defended, and 2,395 students have graduated.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Over the years, the faculty members and associates have published more than fifty textbooks, books, and monographs in the fields of economics, management, informatics, statistics, accounting, business finance, and related areas. The Faculty regularly publishes collections of papers by its staff and associates, as well as a scientific journal. A large number of scientific and professional projects, studies, reports, and investment programs have also been completed, significantly contributing to the development of the economy and social activities in the broader region and Bosnia and Herzegovina as a whole.<\/p>

The faculty members and associates have played a significant role in scientific conferences, seminars, and round tables organized over the past 45 years across the former Yugoslavia, the Republic of Srpska, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Through this form of engagement, the Faculty has established valuable cooperation with many universities, related faculties, and scientific institutions (such as research institutes and institutes) from Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as from most of the republics of the former SFR Yugoslavia.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Collaboration with the aforementioned institutions has also enabled cooperation in the areas of teaching and scientific research, allowing the Faculty to engage prominent professors and experts from economics and related fields in teaching and various forms of scientific research activities over the years.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Faculty of Economics, especially in the 1980s, in cooperation with the regional chambers of commerce in Bijeljina and Doboj, organized and conducted a large number of sessions for the continuing education of managers and other workers in the economy from the broader area of Bosnia and Herzegovina. More recently, the Faculty has organized several seminars on informatics and management, as well as a number of round tables and forums on contemporary approaches to management and potential directions for transforming ownership and management structures in the economy.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe current development of higher education in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and thus in the Br\u010dko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is marked by its inclusion in the Bologna Process, which aims to create an integrated university system, a more efficient and rational study structure, a higher-quality teaching process, the implementation of a credit system for the accumulation and transfer of credits, as well as greater mobility for both teachers and students during and after their studies.

\nGreater mobility for both teachers and students will enable the exchange of students and teaching staff with other universities, which will significantly impact the increase in employment, the improvement of the Faculty's position, and the overall economic and social development of the Br\u010dko District and the broader area of the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Basic Information about the Faculty<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Faculty of Economics Br\u010dko is an organizational unit of the University of East Sarajevo, which includes two academies and, together with the Faculty of Economics Br\u010dko, 15 faculties in the areas of East Sarajevo, Trebinje, Fo\u010da, Pale, Zvornik, Bijeljina, Doboj, and Br\u010dko.\n\n

\n\nThe Faculty of Economics is located in a building that was purpose-built in 1974 for the needs of higher education in Br\u010dko. The Faculty occupies an area of 2,300 m\u00b2, of which 700 m\u00b2 is dedicated to teaching activities, while approximately 1,130 m\u00b2 includes offices for teachers and associates, a library and reading room, an IT lab, a language laboratory for English learning, and a Research Center, equipped with modern computers and other equipment. \n\n

\nThe Faculty employs 13 full-time professors and 2 associates, as well as three part-time lecturers. In the administration and technical services, 15 staff members are engaged.\n\n

\n\nCurrently, there are 260 students enrolled in the first cycle of studies and 60 students in the second cycle of studies at the Faculty of Economics Br\u010dko.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The studies at the Faculty of Economics Br\u010dko are organized in the study program Economics in two cycles:<\/p>

(1) First cycle: 8 semesters, 240 ECTS credits.<\/p>

(2) Second cycle: 2 semesters, 60 ECTS credits.<\/p>

The first cycle lasts four years, after which a diploma and the title of Bachelor of Economics are obtained, with an indication of the relevant field:<\/p>

(1) Accounting and Finance or<\/p>

(2) Management.<\/p>

Students in the first and second years attend classes and take exams in common subjects, and after meeting the requirements for enrolling in the third year of study, they can choose one of the mentioned study fields.<\/p>

The second cycle (master's program) lasts one year, after which the title of Master of Economics is obtained. The master's program includes two study programs:<\/p>

The curriculum for both cycles of studies is a combination of the old and the newly revised curriculum, considering that the curricula are continuously being updated.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSince its establishment, 14 deans have been elected at the Faculty of Economics Br\u010dko. The first dean of the Faculty was Prof. Dr. Murat Sinanagi\u0107, and the vice-deans were Prof. Dr. Du\u0161an Penezi\u0107 and Assoc. Prof. \u0160efik Mulabegovi\u0107. The current dean of the Faculty is Prof. Dr. Sr\u0111an Lali\u0107, the vice-dean for scientific research is Assoc. Enrollment at the Faculty<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe number of students admitted to the Faculty is limited, so selection is made through an entrance exam in two of the four offered subjects (Mathematics, Informatics, Business Economics, and Sociology).\n\n

\n\nThe selection of candidates for admission is based on a ranking list, which is compiled after the entrance exam. The ranking list is created based on the candidates' high school performance and the results achieved on the entrance exam.\n

\nSince the establishment of the Faculty, 2,395 students have graduated with the title of Bachelor of Economics, as follows: 1,067 students from 1976 to 1997, and 1,328 students from 1997 to September 2024.\n

\nCandidates who have completed the first cycle of studies in the same field of study and earned 240 ECTS credits, candidates who have completed studies under the old program (after the equivalence process), and candidates who have completed the first cycle of studies with a duration of four years at other economic faculties and earned 240 ECTS credits (after verifying the relevant knowledge required for attending the program) can enroll in the second cycle \u2013 master's studies. The master's study programs at the Faculty of Economics Br\u010dko are worth 60 ECTS credits, following the completion of 240 ECTS credits in the first cycle of studies.\n

\nThe courses in the study programs carry 40 ECTS credits, while the final master's thesis earns 20 ECTS credits.\n

\nFirst cycle of studies: eight semesters, 240 ECTS credits.
\nSecond cycle of studies: two semesters, 60 ECTS credits.\n

\nThe first cycle of studies lasts four years, after which students obtain a diploma and the title of Bachelor of Economics with a specialization in either Accounting and Finance or Management. The second cycle of studies, which lasts one year, consists of master's studies in economics.\n

\nStudents in the first and second years of study attend classes and take exams in common subjects. After completing the second year, they can choose one of the specified study tracks.\n

\nSince the academic year 2011\/2012, the Faculty of Economics Br\u010dko has launched a master's program with three study programs:\n
